Registration (online and in person) :

 

Residents : starting Tuesday, June 5, at 7 p.m.

 

Non-residents : starting Thursday, June 7, at 7 p.m.

 

 

Non-residents wishing to register for children's or teens' activities must have a family membership at the Library and register in person.

 

 

 

ONLINE REGISTRATION

 

Participants must have a MULTI Card number and make sure, before registration, that their phone number matches the phone number in our files. To register, go to ludik.pointe-claire.ca. Internet registration assistance will be available on June 5 and 7, from 6 to 9 p.m., at 514-630-1225. Internet stations will be available at the Library for you to register online.

 

To find out how to get a MULTI Card number, please call 514-630-1218, ext. 1637. If you don’t have a MULTI Card number, you must register in person.

 

 

COSTS AND REFUNDS

 

Activities are free for Library members. Library membership is free for young people residing or attending a high school in Pointe-Claire.

 

If you have registered for an activity and cannot attend it, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance at 514-630-1218, extension 1623; otherwise, a fee will be applied.

 

 

 

IMPORTANT

 

Unless otherwise indicated, cost includes materials.

 

For each activity, participants must choose between English or French, Central Library or Valois Branch.

 

Children up to age 5: a parent must stay with the child during the activity.

Children ages 6 to 9: a parent must stay in the Library during the activity.

FREE PLAY ACTIVITIES

 

All summer long, children can draw their own buttons, read jokes from the “Laugh Jar” or write their own. They can also do a reading challenge with our Wheel of Fortune, have fun with free activities such as special puzzles, and read under our indoor gazebo. Inquire at the Children’s Info desk.

HEARTS AROUND THE LIBRARY with Janet Callary

 

To celebrate the beginning of our summer of fun, children will make hearts that will decorate the outside of the Library.

Children paint a pot, create a circular support, and plant nasturtium seeds. It makes a beautiful decoration or gift.

2018 TD SUMMER READING CLUB

 

Through books, programs, and conversations, TD Summer Reading Club kids can dive into areas that already fascinate them, dabble in others for new inspiration and discover that their passions have the potential to transform them, their friends and their world. Register your kids now and start accumulating hours! Go to www.tdsummerreadingclub.ca for fun interactive games, a twelve-episode serial story, and a list of books to discover.

 

Where’s Buddy? Every week, a small stuffed Buddy will be hidden in the children’s section of the Library. The child who finds it will earn a coupon for the draw held at the Summer Reading Party. The prize is a choice between a book and a box of candy.

 

Wheel of Fortune: This summer, children can spin the Wheel of Fortune at the Central Library to help them choose their next reading material.

 

 

 

GET YOUR SUMMER READ ON WEEK

 

At the official TD Summer Reading Club launch, children who register in person or come to pick up their reading kit will receive a small prize.

TWO-HOUR CHALLENGE

 

Kids fill out a reading leaflet and bring it back to the Library in order to win a prize and two coupons for the Reading Party draw.

 

The leaflet needed to collect coupons will be given out during class visits or at the Cultural Rendez-Vous at the Stewart Hall Cultural Centre.

TWELVE-HOUR CHALLENGE

 

Kids can succeed at this challenge by reading for about 15 minutes every day. They receive a prize and coupons for the Reading Party draw. They can also accumulate more than 12 hours!

 

The materials needed to collect coupons will be given out at the Library (Central and Valois).

WORD SCAVENGER HUNT IN TERRA-COTTA PARK

 

STEP ONE

Hunt: Using the form available at the Children’s Info desk, children and their parents hunt for specific words on signs in Terra-Cotta Park for a chance to win a prize at the Summer Reading Party.

 

STEP TWO

Write: Using the words found in Terra-Cotta Park, children can invent a short story (form available at the Children’s Info desk). Each story gives participants a chance to win a prize at the Summer Reading Party.

 

Note: This is not a writing contest; kids are writing just for fun!
